Grand Erie Families,

As we conclude the school year, we are proud of the many successes achieved throughout the year. From academic achievements, acts of leadership and vibrant extracurricular success, the 2024-25 school year has been filled with moments that reflect the strength and spirit of students, staff, and families that make Grand Erie a special place.

The end of a school year marks a significant milestone. We have hundreds of kindergarten students who are finishing their first year of full-day school or graduating into Grade 1. Grade 8 students are making the big jump into high school. To high school students graduating and entering the next phase of their pathway, whether it’s an apprenticeship, college, university or the workplace, remember the lessons learned and experiences enjoyed during your time in Grand Erie as you move on to great things. Congratulations to all students making a big move!

Whether it’s reach-ahead credits for Grade 7 and 8 students or eLearning courses for secondary students, students can now register and participate in summer learning.

This month, I'd like to recognize a few staff, students and events:

Earlier this week, the Board of Trustees approved a balanced and sustainable budget for the 2025-26 school year. Some highlights include 13.9 new full-time employees, non-staffing investments for Specialized Services, transportation, technology, professional development for educational assistants, and classroom resources, as well as a capital budget of approximately $21.9 million allocated for buildings, school grounds, renovations, upgrades and repairs.

Keep your math skills sharp this summer—and have fun doing it. We have shared Summer Family Math Newsletters, which include resources, tips and practice math equations to support mathematics learning at home. Snap a photo or share your activity, tag @granderieDSB and use #SummerMathFun for a chance to win a fun prize pack!

Recently, School Mental Health Ontario shared tips to help students, parents and caregivers navigate the shift into summer.

Finally, a reminder that Grand Erie’s 2025-26 School Year Calendars are available.

I wish you a safe and enjoyable summer. We look forward to reconnecting in September for a new school year.
