Schools across the Grand Erie District School Board will conduct a survey to assess school climate for students from March 2 to 13. Students in Grades 4 to 12 will be asked by their schools to participate in this voluntary, electronic survey.

All schools in Grand Erie strive to be safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces where all students feel comfortable and can learn to the best of their abilities. To do this, the survey will gather student perspectives on equity, inclusive education, and their general sense of belonging and well-being within their school communities.

At Grand Erie, we know that learning environments for students and employees are more successful when everyone feels they belong and are supported learn, lead and inspire. This is an opportunity to amplify student voices and further build a positive school culture that ensures each student reaches their full potential in Grand Erie.

The survey is voluntary, the data will remain anonymous and confidential, and respects a family's decision to participate. An aggregate of data will help Grand Erie better understand students’ identities and needs. All school boards in Ontario are required to facilitate the School Climate Survey every two years under the Education Act.
