Declaration of Interest

All families interested in registration in the Elementary Remote Learning Program (ERLP) for their child(ren) must complete an online declaration. The form must be completed annually for each child even if they are currently enrolled in the ERLP.

Declaration of interest does not guarantee your child(ren)’s acceptance into the ERLP program.

Families are invited to declare interest for the 2026-27 school year. Declarations will be reviewed and communication to families will occur between June 15 and 26, 2026.

Please complete one declaration for EACH CHILD going into Grade 1 to Grade 8 in your family that you wish to register into the ERLP.

Students will be considered in person learning at their home school unless the ERLP declaration of interest is completed.

Registration in the ERLP

Declaration of interest does not guarantee your child(ren)’s acceptance in the Elementary Remote Learning Program. Once the declaration has been completed, they will be reviewed in order to determine suitability for the program. Communication to families will occur between June 15 and 26, 2026.

Attendance

Attendance is mandatory and is completed twice a day by teachers. If you know your child will be late, absent or have to leave early, you must contact your child’s homeroom teacher and cc erlp@ugdsb.on.ca. Please note that parents/guardians are the ones who need to communicate this information with teachers and the office; information provided by students will not be accepted. In the morning, families of students marked absent who did not notify us ahead of time will receive an email home (similar to the safe arrival phone calls that are made for students attending school in person).

Student Expecations

In addition to the attendance requirement, students are expected:

  1. To be on time for class and be ready to learn.
  2. To be engaged and active learners.
  3. To remain in their class for the entire period, unless instructed by their teacher (or leaving early for an appointment).
  4. To have an appropriate device (e.g., computer, laptop, Chromebook) with a working camera.
  5. To be courteous and respectful to themselves, their teachers and their classmates.

Family Vacations/Trips

The Ministry of Education is requiring all remote students to reside in the province of Ontario. During registration, families were asked to attest that their family lives in their school board catchment area (AMDSB, DSBN, GEDSB, WRDSB or UGDSB) and will be residing within the province of Ontario for the entire school year. This means that families who leave the province will not be able to participate in, or access, their Google Classroom. If your family will be traveling during the school year, please communicate this with your child(ren)’s teacher and the office.

Return to in person learning

When students attending the Elementary Remote Learning Program return to in person learning, they will be registered back at their in person learning home school. There is no action required by parents/caregivers for these changes to occur.
