Friday, April 29

  • The Hidden Valley Café is serving yummy spaghetti and stuffed meatballs.  Brownies, cookies and beverages are also available.
  • All track participation forms are due today.
  • The boy’s soccer team played two hard fought games yesterday.  The team put forth a valiant effort but were unable to achieve the desired results.
  • Only a few days left to bring in your e-waste!
  • 2 spike ball games and a few frisbees are available for loan during lunch.  The person signing out is responsible for its safe return.  You can also sign out ping pong paddles to use in the cafeteria.
  • Don’t forget to cast your vote for fair theme through the link in your school email.  Last change is Monday May 2.
  • Tickets are now on sale through School Cash Online for Prom 2022, “starry Night in the Valley”.  Prom will take place on Saturday, June 11 at the St. Williams Community Centre.  Purchase your tickets bore May 27th and pick up your prom contact from the main office.  This event is open to senior VHSS students and their guests (1 guest per person only).  All attendees (including guests) must complete and submit a prom contract.

  • Do you enjoy working outdoors?  Complete Property Maintenance of Port Rowan are looking for employees to cut grass/trim/and help with landscaping services.  The job is Monday to Friday and some Saturdays.  You will require transportation to and from the Complete Property Maintenance Shop each day.  Job details and contact information are available in the Guidance Office.
  • Long Point Region Conservation Authority still have positions available for summer employment.  Check it out in the Guidance Office.

 

Thursday, April 28

  • To all students of Mr. Murphy’s Careers Class, “DO NOT” come to the class at lunch!
  • There have been numerous episodes of vandalism in the greenhouse this semester.  Unless you have permission from a teacher NOBODY is to enter the greenhouse.  If you see suspicious activity, please let Mr. Hamm and Mrs. Groh know.
  • Permission forms for tack are now due.
  • Prom tickets for senior students are on sale now.  For the low price of $55.00/person you can enjoy dinner consisting of buns, garden salad with balsamic dressing, stuffed chicken, roasted potatoes, garden medley vegetables and ice cream.
  • The gym will be closed at lunch today.
  • Any students wanting to help seniors with yard work for community hours come to guidance for more info.
  • Conestoga is continuing to accept for our four new tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship Training programs that will prepare students for in-demand careers and provide a head start for those wishing to start a career in trades:  General Carpenter, Welder/Metal Fabricator, Introduction to Construction Trades (Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Welding) and Women in Skilled Trades General Carpentry.
  • There will be a track and field practice after school today.  Good luck to all athletes competing at Track Wars tomorrow in Cambridge.

 

Wednesday, April 27

  • The Hidden Valley Cafe is serving delicious chicken wing chowder served with a fresh baked bun.  We also have lemon meringue pie, cookies, and beverages available.  See you in room 100 at the lunch hour.
  • Are you thinking about getting a summer job?  If you are interested in summer student employment at a provincial park, come to the Guidance office for details.
  • Reminder that the bus for tomorrow’s soccer tournament day leaves at 8:45 am.  Let Mrs. Backus or Ms. Groh know if you will drive yourself or if you will be late.
  • There will be a Rainbow Bears meeting at the start of lunch in room 209.
  • Boy's soccer team meeting at lunch in room 217.  Practice after school.

 

Tuesday, April 26

  • Track & Field permission forms are due by Wednesday, April 27.  If you need one, they are available in the gym.  You will not be allowed to participate or be excused with without a permission form.  The 3000m will be run Friday, April 29 during period 4.
  • There will be an important meeting for all cheerleaders at 11:35 in room 106.  Please plan to attend so that we can decide on our next practice.
  • Congratulations to the boy's soccer team on their hard-fought games against Holy Trinity and Simcoe Composite.  We need more players!  Please consider helping defend our school spirit.  Special mention to Owen who withstood the main pressure and Dylan & Nate who scored our goals.
  • There will be an important track meeting for those athletes going to Track Wars this Friday.  Please meet by the tech locker bay at lunch or see Mrs. Breedyk if you are unable to attend the meeting.
  • Your girl's soccer team played 2 strong games yesterday in our first tournament day.  We defeated Holy Trinity 1-0 with a sniper goal by Emily and shut out from our new goalie, Emilie.  The whole team played with grit and skill, it was a great first day.  There is a quick practice after school today until 4:00 p.m.  All must attend to get ready for Thursday's games against Delhi and Holy Trinity.

 

Monday, April 25

  • Today is the last day to sign up for track & field.  Helpers are also needed.
  • Staff and Students please check your school email to cast your vote for this year's Norfolk County Fair theme for Young Canada Day!
  • Track & Field practice Tuesday, April 26 after school.

  • The badminton team, including junior and senior, earned a bronze medal finish at the regional tournament in Hagersville a little while back. From there, 6 players moved onto CWOSSA last week. Ava B & Mady B earned a quarter-final finish in the junior tournament while Emma D and Hannah B made it to quarter-finals in the senior division. Ryan H and Nic D faced some tough competition and played with the usual Valley spirit. The coaches want to thank all athletes for a great season. Way to go, Bears!
