About us

The Grand Erie District School Board is a publicly funded K-12 school district in the heart of southwestern Ontario, where affordability intersects with educational excellence! Our education centre is in Brantford, Ontario. We represent more than 28,000 students in 58 elementary schools and 14 secondary schools with a dedicated staff of more than 4,000.

Grand Erie delivers the world-class Ontario curriculum through the lens of our student-focused mission to build a culture of learning, well-being and belonging. Our culturally diverse schools are staffed by highly trained, passionate and caring certified teachers, school counsellors and administrators.

Our vision is to Learn, Lead and Inspire – which comes to life through a rigorous and enriching educational experience. Students are empowered to thrive academically, emerge as leaders, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. Grand Erie has bustling urban settings, historic small towns and picturesque countryside. We are an area with deep historical roots and landmark cultural centres. Housing is remarkably affordable compared to nearby areas. Larger urban centres like London, Hamilton and Toronto are nearby for those quick getaways.

The beautiful Grand River stretches through our district to meet with Lake Erie. Opportunities for water sports and fishing action abound. Nature lovers will enjoy the district’s natural beauty, conservation areas and trails. Other sporting interests satisfied in our district include cycling, skiing, golf, curling, competitive hockey, and swimming at the various community centres and pools, including the iconic Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.

The area is home to community college campuses and a Laurier University campus. Five universities—McMaster, Western, Wilfrid Laurier, Brock, and Waterloo—are within a one-hour drive, and the University of Toronto is just over one hour, allowing for easy accessibility for post-secondary institution exploration.

Join us at Grand Erie to explore a world-class Ontario education, share your culture, and make new, lasting friendships.
