A generous donation from the Radvansky family is helping shape the future of student learning at Delhi District Secondary School while honouring the legacy of a community member who believed deeply in the power of education.

"For our family, this donation is a meaningful way to honour the legacy of my uncle, Joe Radvansky," said Sally McIntyre, whose family took part in a celebration to mark the grand opening of the Technology Hub just prior to the end of the school year. "Joe believed deeply in the value of education and the opportunities it creates for young people. As both an aeronautical engineer and a tobacco farmer, he understood the importance of hard work, innovation, and lifelong learning."

The $50,000 donation was directed to the newly renovated Innovative Technology Hub, a modern learning space designed to expand hands-on opportunities in welding, design, fabrication, and other skilled technology programs, and will welcome students in September. The family is also funding a scholarship that will support students on their post-secondary pathways in STEAM-focused studies.

"When communities invest in public education, they invest in the future," said Dr. JoAnna Roberto, Chief Executive Officer for Grand Erie. "The Radvansky family's generosity will have a lasting impact on students at Delhi District Secondary School."

Principal Jim Merrick said the project transformed a previously underused area into a student-centred learning environment, reflecting the school's commitment to meaningful learning opportunities for students across all pathways.

The renovation was made possible through support from the Grand Erie District School Board and the significant contribution from the Radvansky family. Their donation helped complete the renovation, purchase new equipment, and establish a Mac Lab.

McIntyre said the family wanted to make a gift that would have the greatest impact and was pleased to learn the school was seeking support to complete its Hub.

"It felt like the perfect fit supporting a program that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and the technical skills that were so important throughout Joe's career," she said. "We are especially grateful that this contribution not only helped complete the tech lab without the need for additional fundraising, but also provided STEM-focused scholarships that will benefit students for years to come."

Staff and community partners whose collaboration brought the project to life highlighted the important role community investment plays in expanding innovative programming for students. The new learning space will support future generations of Delhi District Secondary School students.
