Partnership Enhances Connection Between BCI and West Brant

New this year, a pilot project launched in partnership with Brantford Transit will provide Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School (BCI) Grade 9 students with another transportation option. The program provides free transit passes to Grade 9 students who reside in West Brant, within 3.2 kilometers of BCI, and do not qualify for regular school transportation.

"This partnership aims to make transportation options more accessible and convenient for students in this region of the city, while promoting sustainable modes of travel and fostering independence for secondary school learners," said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education. "We're excited to see it take shape this year."

Transit passes can be used any time city buses are running, and on any transit routes. A number of routes connect the West Brant region to the BCI community, and trips can be planned easily using Brantford Transit's app. To obtain their pass, students just need to visit the Brantford Transit office once for a photo ID. Passes can then be renewed each semester a student continues to be enrolled.
