Focus of Grand Erie's Goals Reflected in EQAO Results

THURSDAY, OCT. 12, 2023

Brantford, Ont. – Provincial EQAO results from the assessments held during the 2022-23 school year are now available online and serve as a data snapshot used alongside assessments from other sources.

EQAO assessments include Grades 3 and 6 reading, writing and math; Grade 9 math; and Grade 10 reading and writing through the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).  Results for Grand Erie in Grade 3 reading, writing and math, Grade 6 math, Grade 9 math and the OSSLT success rate all showed improved or maintained results from the previous year’s assessment.

“We see improvements in results, and value the excellence and leadership of educators, administrators, system and support staff,” said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education. “The important work they do every day supports student engagement, learning and success.”

Grand Erie continues to focus on early reading and mathematics through the intentional use of high-impact instructional practices and assessment strategies. Ongoing professional learning with an emphasis on “knowing the learner,” using effective instructional strategies and a variety of assessments, ensures supports are relevant and responsive and provide educators with additional insight into what their students need.

The 2022-23 EQAO assessments builds on notable changes introduced the previous school year, including a new Ontario curriculum for Grade 3, 6 and 9 math, a digitized delivery method and de-streamed assessment for Grade 9 math.

The 2022-23 Annual Learning and Operating Plan continues to be responsive to the learning needs of students and has specific strategies towards a goal of improving learning results in early literacy, math and graduation pathways.
