Grand
Erie District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Munro
as Superintendent of Education, effective August 19, 2019.
“I’m very pleased to have
Lisa join our Senior Administration Team,” said Brenda Blancher, Director of
Education. “Lisa is a highly respected educator with a wide range of experience
– from Literacy Coach to Principal and Learning Supervisor. She brings a wealth
of knowledge to our team and will be a great addition.”
Munro joins Grand Erie
from Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) where she has been a Learning Supervisor
since 2016 in the area of Culture for Learning, a portfolio that includes Equity,
Mental Health and Safe Schools. She has extensive experience as a school
administrator and has led initiatives in Equity and Inclusion as well as the
Urban Priorities High School initiative.
“I look forward to getting
started at Grand Erie in August,” said Munro. “In my previous roles, I’ve worked
collaboratively with system, school and community stakeholders to create a
culture of learning for all. I see Grand Erie’s Multi-Year Plan,
Success for Every Student, as an extension
of this work and I’m honoured to join the team.”
During her time at TVDSB,
Munro worked on a comprehensive plan called
Rethink
Secondary Learning
. The plan reimagines secondary learning experiences to
ensure they are innovative, differentiated, highly-engaging and provide both
voice and choice as well as a sense of belonging for all learners. From
consultation to implementation, Munro led a collaborative approach with TVDSB staff
and post-secondary partners to operationalize the
Rethink Secondary Learning plan.
Munro replaces Dave Abbey, who announced
his retirement earlier this year following a distinguished 30-year career in
education.
Grand Erie District School Board represents more than 25,000 students in 58 elementary and 14 secondary schools within the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk.
