Grand Erie Leads Forward: 2026-30 Strategic Plan

Together, we build a culture of Learning, Well-Being, and Belonging to inspire each learner.

The Grand Erie District School Board Trustees have approved its renewed strategic plan, We Lead Forward, to support learner success over the next four years.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, it’s our collective responsibility to establish a strategic plan to set long-term priorities and goals of the district,” says Brian Doyle, Chair of the Board. “The feedback from students, employees and the community played a significant role in shaping the plan and helped affirm our system's strengths and the priorities that will lead us forward.”

Through participation in focus groups and a system-wide survey, there was strong alignment around what matters most in Grand Erie, including learning, well-being, and belonging, while also emphasizing future readiness, relationships, inclusion, and support for every learner.

“Over the past five years, we’ve improved literacy and math achievement and graduation results, deepened student engagement, invested in employee capacity, enhanced mental health and well-being supports, and taken bold steps to create learning environments where every student feels valued, heard, and empowered to succeed,” says Dr. JoAnna Roberto, Chief Executive Officer.

“Guided by feedback, we remain focused on what matters most: high expectations, driving measurable progress and creating meaningful learning experiences that prepare every learner for a bright future.”

What We Heard:

  • A continued focus on student learning, particularly literacy and mathematics
  • The importance of mental health, well-being and strong relationships
  • The need to prepare students with transferable skills for an evolving future
  • The value of inclusive, responsive environments where all learners feel they belong

“The Graduate Profile reflects our shared commitment to developing the knowledge, skills and attributes that learners need to lead with confidence, contribute with purpose, and thrive in an ever-changing world,” adds Dr. Roberto.

Our Graduate Profile

  • Adaptable and Future-Ready
  • Collaborative Contributors
  • Self-Aware and Resilient Learners
  • Creative and Critical Thinkers
  • Thoughtful Communicators
  • Responsible and Engaged Citizens

Notes Dr. Roberto, “It represents our collective vision for the future and our belief in the limitless potential of every student. This strategic plan is not a change in direction. It’s a refreshed roadmap that builds on our strengths and guides how we move forward together.”
