On February 26, the Grand Erie District School Board hosted its first of four Kick-Start to Kindergarten events. At King George School in Brantford, little learners ventured into the school world for the first time as a sneak-peek of what's to come in their first year of school.

Families had a chance to meet and greet educators, participate in the Looksee developmental screening and connect with the community partners that help Grand Erie build safe and welcoming learning spaces.

"This year, we've expanded the format of Kick-Start to Kindergarten to include four regional sessions. We were joined by so many eager families, board and community partners for an evening filled with information, family connections and most of all fun for our newest learners," said Lisa Munro, Superintendent of Curriculum and Student Achievement.

The first event featured Grand Erie Public Health, Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services, Brantford Eye Care, Brantford Public Library and more.

Director of Education JoAnna Roberto shared that "Becoming familiar with Grand Erie's active and inclusive learning environments is the first step on the journey to starting school. These events build connections, ease the transition and most importantly set the foundation for a successful start."
