You Belong Here - Welcome to Secondary School Guide

To ease the transition from elementary to secondary school, Grand Erie has released a series of videos and an online guide  meant to help students and families navigate the next steps and seize the many opportunities that await.

"These resources capture the energy and opportunity of the secondary school experience, and we're thrilled to be able to share them with families and students who are making the transition to high school," said Jeff Benner, Secondary Lead for Grand Erie. "There are so many exciting, innovative programs and offerings available, and we hope this helps each learner put their best foot forward as they begin Grade 9."

The You Belong Here series was put together by the Secondary Learning team to serve as a guide highlighting the academic transition, programs and services offered, available supports and guidance along the way, and how to make the most of this important part of everyone's educational journeys. It features Grand Erie students Elijah Liverpool, who attends Brantford Collegiate and Vocational School; Heather Hall, who goes to Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School; and Abigail Foster, a recent BCI grad. The student presenters walk viewers through a variety of topics with a hands-on approach.

"The videos are highly engaging and provide valuable information to support students through a seamless transition to an incredible secondary school experience in Grand Erie," said Lisa Munro, Superintendent of Education. "Each student contributes something important, and secondary school is a place to share that voice. Your story matters; you belong here!"

Grand Erie's collective priorities include nurturing curiosity and opportunity for each student through equitable, inclusive and responsive learning environments in secondary schools.
