Overview of the French Immersion Registration Process

  • Students who register for Kindergarten prior to Feb. 6, 2026 will be accommodated in the school where the French Immersion program is offered. Those who register after that date will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis as space permits.
  • Students registered after February 6, 2026 will be assessed on an individual basis and notified if entry is granted based primarily on school enrolment, including but not limited to the following: school operating capacity at the requested school; board compliance with mandatory Ministry class size caps and district averages; school organizations; and profiles of the requested school.
  • Students who currently have siblings in the program are guaranteed a spot. Registration and verification is still required by February 6, 2026.
  • Parents/caregivers who register after February 6, 2026 will be informed, by each school, whether their child is in the Kindergarten program at the school where the French Immersion program is offered
  • No out-of-area requests will be permitted.
  • In the winter prior to Grade 1, families will be asked to indicate their preference for their child’s future programming. If they decide that their child’s learning needs are best met in English programming, they will be reminded to register their child at their designated English school.
