Rowan's Law Day

The last Wednesday in September is recognized in Ontario as Rowan’s Law Day. In 2026, Rowan’s Law Day takes place on September 30. The day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about concussions and concussion safety.

Rowan’s Law was named in memory of Rowan Stringer, a 17-year-old high school rugby player who died in 2013 from Second Impact Syndrome after experiencing multiple concussions. Her story helped raise awareness about the importance of recognizing the signs and symptoms of concussion and knowing when it is safe to return to sport.

Passed in 2018, Rowan’s Law established concussion safety requirements for amateur competitive sport organizations in Ontario and supports greater awareness about concussion prevention, identification and management.
