October 25
Haldimand Treaty Day recognizes the Haldimand Proclamation of October 25, 1784, which granted land along the Grand River to Haudenosaunee in recognition of their alliance with the British during the American Revolution.
The day provides an opportunity to learn about the history and significance of the Haldimand Tract, the enduring relationship of Six Nations of the Grand River to these lands, and the importance of treaties and treaty relationships today.
