Canadian Autism Awareness Month

October provides an opportunity to increase understanding of autism and to recognize and celebrate Autistic people and their contributions to our communities.

Increasingly, the conversation around autism has expanded from awareness to acceptance, with an emphasis on creating environments where Autistic people are valued, supported and included. Autism acceptance recognizes neurodiversity and neurological differences as natural variations of the human brain.

Creating inclusive communities means valuing diverse perspectives, strengths, skills and contributions and working to remove barriers to participation and belonging.
