Sixth Annual One-Stop Grad Shop Removes Barriers to Taking Part in Graduation Celebrations

S

hopping for graduation attire can be expensive, so for the sixth year, King George School is partnering with Brantford Police Services to provide an opportunity for Grade 8 students to find a special outfit, without the price tags.

"For many students, the Grad Shop is not just about finding the right outfit, but also about feeling a sense of belonging and inclusion within their family," said Stephanie Slaman, Vice-Principal of King George School. "By coming together to support the next generation, the community is sending a powerful message of solidarity and encouragement to these young individuals as they transition into the next chapter of their lives."

The One-Stop Grad Shop offers dresses, suits, jackets, dress shirts, shoes and accessories to Grade 8 students free of cost. Students and their families can visit King George School on Wednesday, May 15 from 3-7 p.m. to find the perfect outfit and accessories.

Donations are being accepted at the Brantford Police Station until Tuesday, May 14 at 12 p.m.

Events such as the One-Stop Grad Shop are supported by Grand Erie’s Multi-Year Plan, which works to promote equitable practices that help students and families feel safe, welcomed, and included.
