EcoSchools-Canada-Logo-Colour[49].gifTogether, students determined focus areas, goals and action plans to track their progress. Activities included community clean-up events, waste sorting, tree planting, diverting textile waste and more.

“Through EcoSchools, students are given an opportunity to learn about the environment, foster student leadership and take action to become better environmental stewards,” shared Katie Hashimoto, Divisional Manager of Operations, Energy and Sustainability at Grand Erie.

“We are proud of the hard work and accomplishments that our EcoTeams have achieved this year!”

Programs like EcoSchools foster eco-curiosity and learning in connection with the Multi-Year Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a result, Grand Erie committed 2,890 hours to outdoor learning, 402 waste-free lunches, 4,268 kg of waste diverted from the landfill and 83 classrooms improved on energy efficiency.
