The Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to announce that the construction of new child care spaces at Central Public School in Brantford is now completed and now officially open to families as of April 26, 2021. Through a partnership between the City of Brantford and the Board, the addition will add four new child care rooms and 64 new child care spaces to Central Public School in Brantford.
Grand Erie District School Board is pleased to share news that the Brant County Health Unit, based on the Ministry of Health guidelines, will expand access to the COVID-19 vaccine for additional Grand Erie staff beginning on April 26.

Today, April 20, the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Grand Erie facility maintenance building at 349 Erie Avenue in Brantford.
As previously announced by the province, all schools across the province will be pivoting to virtual learning after the Spring Break starting on April 19. Provisions are being made for in-person support for students with special education needs who cannot be accommodated through remote learning.
Today, April 15, the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Lansdowne-Costain Public School in Brantford. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, April 15, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Simcoe Composite School in Simcoe. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Lakewood Public School in Port Dover. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.
Today, April 12, the Ministry of Education directed all Ontario schools to pivot to remote learning after the Spring Break, effective April 19, 2021. Before- and after-school programs have been directed to close during this time. No date was provided by the government as to when in-person learning will resume for Grand Erie students.

As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.  
Today, April 9, the Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at North Park Collegiate and Vocational School in Brantford. As outlined in the Ministry of Education’s Operational Guidance, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in students and/or staff in a school with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the school.

The Grand Erie District School Board welcomes news today that Brant County Health Unit and the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit will offer prioritized access to the vaccine for Grand Erie staff who provide direct support to students with special education learning needs starting on April 10.

On April 6, 2021 Brant County Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Russell Reid Public School in Brantford and Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at McKinnon Park Secondary School in Caledonia.
Grand Erie District School Board and Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board, in partnership with LifeLabs, the Brant County Health Unit, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and the Ministry of Education, will offer targeted asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and staff at no cost, starting April 10, 2021.
