The 2023-24 Budget Survey Has Concluded
In order to better serve our community, we gathered feedback from students, families, staff, community members and other groups throughout the month of March to help us develop Grand Erie's 2023-24 budget. Although a very small portion of the Board’s budget can be classified as discretionary, the results of this survey will help us make choices between supporting current initiatives, redirecting funding to new initiatives or cutting funding in specific areas. Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey.
Survey input brings cost savings
Your input has made a difference in the past. In the 2018 Budget Survey, a student suggested a cost-saving idea to shut off school computers overnight. The idea was implemented, and the resulting savings of $70,000 per year was able to be re-directed to programming to support students and learning.
Our Strategic Plan guides our work, and is centred on a vision to Learn, Lead and Inspire, and our shared mission to build a culture of Learning, Well-Being and Belonging to Inspire each learner.

Audit Committee
The primary role of the audit committee is to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its duties related to governance and oversight. The duties of the audit committee fall under the following key areas: the financial reporting process, internal control framework, risk management practices, performance and function of the Board’s internal and external auditors and the Board’s compliance with its obligations under legislation.
The Audit Committee is comprised of three trustees and two independent members drawn from the community. The Committee meets at least three times a year, plus ad hoc meetings as required. Training and orientation will be provided to clarify roles and responsibilities of the audit committee for the school board sector.
