Families with a child who will be starting high school in the next year are encouraged to attend an upcoming Grade 9 Information Night to get set for all things secondary.
"The transition to secondary school is an exciting, significant one, and Grand Erie staff are here to help every step of the way," said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education. "These information nights invite students to explore the opportunities that await, including educational and extracurricular programming, skills development, and to start thinking about post-secondary pathways."
Each secondary school in Grand Erie is hosting an information night, inviting learners and families to meet staff, tour the school and ask questions. The events share the wide range of programs available, from French immersion to experiential learning, Indigenous education, athletics, well-being, multilingual learner supports, and much more.
In addition to the Grade 9 Information Nights, learners and families getting ready for this next step in education can check out You Belong Here, a guide that walks through all aspects of the secondary school experience, covering course selection and graduation requirements, school and board supports, programming and additional opportunities. Once in secondary school, thinking about out what you want to do next is a good step, and to help with that is the Pathways guide. New this year, the Pathways guide covers everything learners and families need to know about educational, vocational and life planning beyond high school.
