Grade 9 Registration and Course Selection

Grade 9 Registration Process - For Students Currently Enrolled in Grand Erie District School Board

 

Students should enter course selections into myBlueprint.ca and have a parent/caregiver approve their selections via email, or submit a printed sign-off sheet returned to the classroom teacher.

Elementary Grade 8 teachers will collect any printed forms for their students. Please be reminded that students CANNOT register at more than one secondary school.

Grade 9 Registration Process - For Students Outside Grand Erie District School Board

 

Completed Registration Forms and Course Selection Sheets are to be submitted to kelly.stromme@granderie.ca.  

Please be reminded that students CANNOT register at more than one Secondary School.

Graduation Requirements

OSSD Requirements

 

To earn a high school OSSD diploma in Ontario, students must:

  • earn 17 compulsory credits
  • earn 13 optional credits
  • pass the literacy requirement
  • complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement activities
  • financial literacy requirement
  • 2 eLearning courses

 

Compulsory credits

 

Students must earn the following 17 compulsory credits to get their Ontario Secondary School Diploma:

  • 4 credits in English (1 credit per grade)
  • 3 credits in mathematics (at least 1 credit in Grade 11 or 12)
  • 2 credits in science
  • 1 credit in technological education (Grade 9 or Grade 10)
  • 1 credit in Canadian history (Grade 10)
  • 1 credit in Canadian geography (Grade 9)
  • 1 credit in the arts
  • 1 credit in health and physical education
  • 1 credit in French as a second language
  • 0.5 credit in career studies
  • 0.5 credit in civics
  • 1 credit from the STEM-related course group

 

STEM-related course group

 

Of the 17 compulsory credits, students must complete one from each of the following group:

  • business studies
  • computer studies
  • cooperative education
  • mathematics (in addition to the 3 compulsory credits currently required)
  • science (in addition to the 2 compulsory credits currently required)
  • technological education (in addition to the 1 compulsory credit required)

 

English language learners (ELL)

 

Students may count a maximum of 3 credits in English as a Second Language or English Literacy Development towards the 4 compulsory credits in English.

The fourth credit must be for a Grade 12 compulsory English course.

 

Optional credits

 

Students must earn 13 optional credits by successfully completing courses offered in their school's program and course calendar.

Optional credits may include up to 4 credits earned through approved dual credit programs
