Dear McKinnon Park community,
Over the past few days, our school has experienced a period of heightened concern. I want to take a moment to thank you for your care and cooperation as we work closely with Ontario Provincial Police, Haldimand Country Detachment, to respond to the situation.
As a precaution, police were at our school today, and we continue to work in partnership with them to ensure all safety protocols are implemented and adhered to. School operations continue as normal, and our staff members are committed to the safety and well-being of everyone in our building.
To our McKinnon Park community:
I am writing to share information regarding a report of online threats made toward our school building. First, I want to acknowledge how unsettling situations like this can be for students, families and staff, and assure you that the safety and well-being of our community is the highest priority.
Threats to safety are never acceptable. In response to this situation, we are working with local law enforcement, who are actively investigating the matter. We are continuing to follow all recommended safety procedures. Police were present in our school today, and will continue to investigate this situation.
I understand that uncertainty can cause concern, and I want to assure you that we will continue to communicate openly and promptly. If new information becomes available, or if any changes to our normal operations are required, you will receive updates directly.
