Cohen holding up the cup

Cohen Fox holding up the Cup during a special visit from Coach Jay.

My name is Cohen Fox, I’m in Grade 6 at Cedarland Puclic School, and I’m 12 years old. This season with my AA hockey team, the Brantford Barons, was a wild ride, and it ended with us winning the OMHA cup.

To be honest, we didn’t win a lot during the regular season. It was tough, and making the playoffs felt like a long shot. But we pushed through and managed to get in.

In our three playoff games, we had one tie and two loses, which was just enough to move us into Sunday’s games.

In the semifinals, we played the Burlington Snipers team. It was a close, intense game, and we won 3–2. The game‑winning goal was scored with 18.2 seconds left on the clock, an unbelievable moment that sent us straight to the finals.

The final game was a battle. It was rough, physical, and honestly pretty dirty at times. But in the second period, I managed to score the only goal of the game, helping my team take a 1–0 victory and win the championship.

I was also honoured to receive the MVP Player of the Game award.

My coaches, Jay and Mike, are the best coaches I’ve ever had, they never gave up on us and always knew we could do it.

Winning the cup with the Brantford Barons, especially in a season like this, is something I’ll never forget.
