AGH Community Update - September 4, 2026

Friday, Sep 04, 2026

We hope you enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to welcoming our returning students and new students to Agnes G. Hodge! Due to new registrations that were submitted over the summer, we are still finalizing our class placements. Like last year, student class placements will be shared on the first day of school (Sept 2). As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to ensure that everyone is informed about our first day procedures to help the day run smoothly for both students and parents/caregivers.

  • Student personal devices must be put on silent mode and not be visible on school property during school hours including nutrition breaks and recess.
  • Personal devices should not be used for “free time” in the classroom when student work is completed.
  • Student communication to parents/caregivers should be done through the office. If students would like to contact their parents using personal device, it should be done at the office or in the presence of a staff member.
  • Progressive Discipline for inappropriate personal device use during school hours:
    • Verbal reminder to put device in their bag/locker.
    • Device kept in secure place in the classroom or office until end of day. Teacher communication home with parent/caregiver acknowledgement of school personal device policy
    • Device kept at office until end of day. Admin communication home with parent/caregiver acknowledgement of school personal device policy
    • Device kept at home or handed to office upon entry to school and picked up at office upon dismissal

Joining School Council

We welcome all parents/guardians/caregivers who are willing to volunteer their time to participate on our School Council. School Councils must hold annual elections to identify voting members. Elected members vote on School Council matters and represent the group’s ideas and advisory suggestions for the Principal. Please note that you do not have to be an elected member of School Council to attend meetings. All meetings are open to all parents/guardians who wish to observe.

To declare your interest in becoming an elected voting member of the School Council, please click on and complete the following ONLINE NOMINATION FORM. You may also nominate another parent/guardian of a student at our school to become an elected School Council voting member. All nomination forms must be submitted by Friday September 18, 11:59 pm in order to be elected as a voting member. Once all nominations have been received and if a general election is required, it will take place September 21 to September 23.

Executive officer positions on school councils such as chair, co-chair, secretary, and treasurer will be elected internally by the council voting members at our first school council meeting scheduled to take place in person on Thursday, September 24th  6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in our school library learning commons.

School Bus Transportation

IMPORTANT: In previous years, parents/caregivers may have requested bus transportation and students may still be on the bus list. If you DO NOT want your child to ride the bus, please log in and check the transportation portal. If you would like to remove your child from the bus list, please contact the transportation department and request that they be removed. This will ensure that our bus lists are accurate.

If you moved over the summer, please let transportation know what your new address is so that they can plan services for you for September. Transportation staff are working over the summer months and are happy to process any changes at that time.

Looking to accessing transportation details for September? Access to the transportation portal, available at: https://transinfobhn.ca/Login, is now open to the public. If services on the portal are not accurate or if you have questions, please contact transportation directly to discuss. Transportation can be reached by emailing transportation@stsbhn.ca or by calling 519-751-7532. Updates received and processed before August 27th at noon will be in effect for the first day of school.
