Shanker Self-Reg® Program helps parents and caregivers better understand the stress that can be behind a child’s behaviour and provides practical strategies to support self-regulation and overall well-being. The program consists of ten sessions. Participants will learn how to identify stress signals in children, simple calming techniques, strategies to promote their child’s emotional well-being, and more. The series begins on October 27th.
October 30th will be designated as a “Special Event Day”. Sweet treats are welcome and students are able to wear costumes, black and orange or autumn colours to school. This year we will be having a school parade for students to show our school spirit. The parade will begin at 9:00 am as our kindergarten students will start the parade by walking throughout school with other classes joining. The parade will conclude with all classes walking around our school paved area. Parents/caregivers are reminded to observe from the perimeter of the school property/grass and be respectful of student privacy if taking photos and videos.
Student Council will also be hosting our first dance of the year! Students from Kindergarten all the way to grade 8 will be able to show off their dance moves and have some fun with their friends. Dances will occur throughout the day in grade groups. An alternate space will be available for students who do not wish to attend the dance. Parents wishing for their child to opt out of the dance can reach out to their child's teacher to let them know.
Students planning to wear costumes to school should review the following reminders:
Halloween for Hunger is back at Hodge, and we’re excited to celebrate our sixth year! For those new to Hodge, this is our week-long food drive to support both our school and local community. The event runs Monday, October 26th to Friday, October 30th. These donations will go to support members of our school community as well as The Brantford Food Bank. We appreciate Mrs. Dowling for organizing this great cause for those in need. More details will be shared closer to the date.
