Earth Hour is an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for the planet we call home. We're reminded that even small actions can contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future.
I encourage families to turn off all non-essential lights for one hour to reduce energy and talk about how our everyday choices can support environmental stewardship. Here are some ways you can participate in learning at home:
Teyhahonteh Miller, a respected Mohawk voice in the community, shared aspects of the Thanksgiving Address/Ohentoh Kariwahtekwen in a special Earth Week message.

Grand Erie will participate in Earth Hour and acknowledge our responsibility to protect the planet. Schools and departments will participate and turn off non-essential lights on Friday, March 27. Facility Services staff will ensure the lights are turned off on Saturday by switching off non-essential lights between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. to officially recognize Earth Hour.
Wishing you a wonderful Earth Hour.
