Tollgate Technological Skills Centre is a secondary school that primarily serves students who wish to enter apprenticeships or the workforce directly upon completion of their secondary graduation diploma. Students who attend this school have access to programs and facilities that don’t exist at any other secondary school in the Grand Erie District School Board. Along with all of the academic programs that are necessary for graduation, you will find programs such as Hairdressing and Cosmetology, Commercial Cooking and Restaurant Management, Stone and Brick Masonry, Small Engines Repair, Professional Baking, Health Care, Auto Body Repair and Horticulture, as well as many of the other more traditional technology programs.
There is a great sense of community at Tollgate. Students feel comfortable attending this school as there is an atmosphere of acceptance and support. There are many experiential learning opportunities, giving students a chance to spend part of the school day in the workplace. This provides them with valuable experience about the working world while they continue to earn school credits at the same time.
The unique facilities at Tollgate can also be accessed by students who are attending the Public and Catholic secondary schools in their neighbourhood. The Tollgate Magnet Program provides bussing to and from Tollgate for students to take a 2 credit, half day program in many of our specialty areas. About one quarter of our school population is composed of students who are taking advantage of this program.
The unique program and facilities at Tollgate are available to all families that live anywhere in Brant County. Tours are available for students who would like to see first hand what this school has to offer.
