It is the responsibility of all members of the school community to develop a positive school climate by adhering to the Standards of Behaviour that ensure the Safety of all & demonstrate Respect, Civility, and Responsible Citizenship.
Progressive Discipline means that students who frequently do not comply with expectations or the standards can expect that negative consequences will be more severe than the “first time” offenders.
Our Code of Conduct, in accordance with the Board and Ministry Standards of Behaviour clearly defines the following: students are expected to...
· Conduct themselves respectfully, complying with staff requests
· Refrain from inappropriate use of language, any verbal or physical aggression
· Use conflict-resolution strategies
· Complete assigned work
· Put forth their best effort
· Respect differences in people, their ideas & their opinions
· Seek assistance from trusted adult as necessary when in class & on the playground
· Respect all members of our school community, respect our property, and the property of others
Consequences of Responsible Behaviour include:
· Participation in extra-curricular activities, curriculum activities, events, clubs, and dances, assemblies
· Opportunity to be recognized with special rewards and activities
· Participation in class and school trips
· Leadership opportunities throughout the year
Progressive Discipline may include:
· Incident reports, problem-solving sheets and appropriate consequences
· Restriction / removal of a variety of privileges
· Restriction / removal from variety of class &/or school activities & special events
· Detentions
· Sent home
· Suspension
