Silver Medal Boys Jr Volleyball

LISTEN UP THUNDERBIRDS!!!!!

Please join us in congratulating our Junior Boys Volleyball Team on an incredible silver-place finish at CWOSSA this past Friday in Walkerton!

Our athletes, Josh Marckesano, Carson Sleesak, Colton Cudmore, Ty Shannon, Jack Chernoff, Caleb Marckesano, Cody Barkley, and Jackson Stamer  gave absolutely everything they had throughout the entire day, showing outstanding dedication, determination, and true Thunderbird pride.

The boys opened the tournament strong, taking the first set against Saugeen. After Saugeen answered back in the second, our juniors battled hard and claimed the third set, earning their first win of the day.

In their second match against Holy Trinity, the energy was electric. Despite HT coming out swinging to avenge Monday’s loss, our boys took the first set. But it was the second set that showed their true heart. Down 19–24, with HT just one point from taking the second set, Ty Shannon stepped up to the service line and delivered each serve with power and procession. The whole team dug deep, after the serve, getting every set point there was no way HT was getting the set, pushing the score to 24–24, then 24–25, and finally took the set 26–24, completing their most impressive comeback of the season.

Game three against Galt served as their rest match a chance to regroup, have fun, and prepare for what came next, Semi finals!
In the semifinals, they faced the undefeated Kincardine team… and our juniors rose to the challenge. With phenomenal setting from Colton and Ty, huge blocks from Jack and Carson powerful hits from Josh, and Caleb, and incredible digs from Cody and Jackson, the boys shocked the tournament by winning in two straight sets, knocking out the undefeated favourites and proving exactly what underdogs can do.

This victory sent them to the CWOSSA Finals, where they once again faced Galt. The boys fought with everything they had dropping the first set, but battling back to win the second, and pushing hard through the next two. In the end, Galt found a run and took the final sets, but nothing can take away from the grit, heart, and sportsmanship our juniors displayed.

Mrs. Flowerday and Mr. Mike are so incredibly proud of these 8 boys and all they accomplished this weekend, they fought through every set with heart, determination and pride, they truly showed exactly what it means to be a thunderbird, please help us to Congratulate our Junior Boys Volleyball CWOSSA Silver Medalists!
