Students at Pauline Johnson Collegiate took to the stage in the school’s media arts room on Wednesday to showcase their artistic talents.

“Arts Break is where people can sing, dance, and do poetry; it’s just something that kids can show off their talents,” said Grade 11 student Reese Mahoney, publicist for the event. “PJC is an athletic school, but I also like to think it’s big on arts too. We do musical theatre, and I wrote a show for the school, so I’ve really been able to express myself through art here.”

Wednesday’s event was the 30th edition of Arts Break that began in 2011 – held in each of two semesters each year – and is followed by the Thunderbird Festival in the spring to celebrate the diverse talents and cultures at Brantford’s Pauline Johnson Collegiate.
