  • Congratulations to Eytan Mirie and Amilya King who competed at CWOSSA yesterday.  Amilya placed 2nd out of 136 runners, completing her 5k in 19:34. Eytan raced against 273 athletes and finished his 6k with a time of 18:41, also earning him a second place finish.  Both students move on to OFSAA next week!
  • The Café is open for business! We are selling homemade stuffed meatball subs. We also have a variety of fresh baked homemade cookies, delicious deli sandwiches, and an assortment of beverages. Come down to room 100 during the lunch hour to purchase a tasty treat.
  • On Wednesday November 1st, grade 9 students across Grand Erie will once again be participating in the Take Our Kids to Work Day experience. Grade 9s should receive a letter and permission form in their period 1 or 2 class today. Please take that home to your caregiver and bring back the signed permission form to your homeroom teacher or the main office by October 30th if you are participating.   • Listen up, Bears!  Next Tuesday is Halloween!  We have some fun activities planned for lunch and a lot of treats.  Don’t forget about the annual costume contest that will take place at lunch – plan your single and group costumes for your chance to win.
  • We will have our first Rainbow Bears meeting Friday, October 27 at lunch in room 209.  Bring your lunch with you, all are welcome.
  • Reminder to students working on Remembrance Day Posts – please submit your work to Mrs. Mackenzie by Friday, November 3.  If you’d like a form / information – drop by the art room 119.

  • Volunteers needed to help plant and prep for Norfolk's first public food forest at Waterworks Park in Simcoe located at 266 Chapel St (corner of Chapel and Nelson St). We will be starting at 11am on Saturday October 28th and will be planting fruit trees and berry bushes. Please bring your own shovel if possible, as well as a reusable water bottle. For more information, you can find us on Facebook by searching "Simcoe Food Forest'  Call or text Brooke at 519-410-7566 if you have any questions.

The Rainbow Bears are an LGBTQ+ friendly group and a student run club where we meet and discuss ways to make the world or school community a safer, more empathic place. If you wish to check out the Rainbow Bears, please stop by tomorrow and check it out.

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business! We are selling delicious chicken wing chowder served with a fresh baked bun. We also have deli sandwiches, a variety of cookies, and beverages for sale. See you in room 100 during the lunch hour.  
  • We will be having our first Rainbow Bears meeting of the year this Friday @ lunch. The Rainbow Bears are an LGBTQ+ friendly group made up of students who are in the community or allies of the community. All are welcome to stop by on Friday to check out the vibe!
  • Physical Education classes periods 2 & 3 are to go to room 104. Period 4 to room 103. The gym will be closed at lunch.
  • Congratulations to last week’s fun French Fact winner Violet Lemke! Bravo! Today’s fun fact is that roughly one third of English words come from the French language originally! Come to room 204 at the beginning of lunch to see how many you know! The prize winner will be announced next week! Everyone is welcome!

  • Yesterday the senior boys played and exciting day of volleyball at an SCS tournament. In the end the boys finished with one point separating them from first place in their pool. Great day bears. Today both teams play their final regular season game in Delhi. All volleyball players are to meet in the bear pit right after announcements.
