  • This week’s Bear of the Week goes to a student who was a huge helper at track and field.  Thank you to Isaac Martens!  You are bear of the week.  Please come to the office to get your T-Shirt.
  • The Café is offering take out today!  We are serving delicious Tuscan chicken soup served with a fresh baked bun.  Cookies, freezies and beverages are also available.  See you in room 100 during the lunch hour.
  • The vending machine by the cafeteria washrooms is now stocked with lots of yummy snacks!  All proceeds support Valley athletics.
  • Congratulations to the following athletes who competed at CWOSSA track and field:  Allison Jennings, Brooklyn Perry, Layla Hamm, Cohen Savoy, Sarah Stewart, Rocky Negro and Emma Driedger.
  • Good Luck to Emma as she competes at OFSAA Regionals next weekend for discus and javelin.
  • Reminder – there is a girls’ soccer practice on Tuesday after school.  Because we are competing at CWOSSA on Wednesday, there will be a skills competition so bring your A Game!

  • Attention recent Graduates… Do you need searching resume cover letter interview support?  Fanshawe Community Career and Employment services wants to help.  Come to the Guidance Office for more information or see the information on Mrs. Buchanan’s Guidance Classroom.
  • Tickets are now on sale through School Cash Online for Prom 2022, “Starry Night in the Valley”.  Prom will take place on Saturday, June 11 at the St. Williams Community Centre.  Purchase your tickets before May 27th and pick up your prom contact from the main office.  This event is open to senior VHSS students and their guests (1 guest per person only).  All attendees (including guests) must complete and submit a prom contract.
  • If you are having trouble accessing School Cash Online to purchase your prom ticket, Madison and Taylor have volunteered to set up a table by the library from 11:35 – noon beginning tomorrow.  Prom contracts will be available there to fill out and return to the office.  Remember the deadline to buy tickets is Friday May 27th.
  • Valley Heights is hosting their 3rd Annual Invitational High School Challenge Fishing Tournament at Backus Mill Pond, Port Rowan on Tuesday, June 7.  The cost is $30.00 per person, this includes park entrance, lunch and prizes.  Purchase your tickets online through School Cash Online.  Permission forms are available outside the guidance office.  Return your signed permission forms to Mrs. Stephen in the workshop.  Deadline to sign up is June 3.
  • Community Living Access is looking for local high school students to help create a Community Mural on the back of their office building in Downtown Simcoe.  They’re inviting all student artists (no matter their skill level) to join them in constructing/painting a mural that celebrates our vibrant community!  They will supply spray paint, the surface to paint on & safety supplies, you supply your vision of what a vibrant community looks like to you!  You can paint an image, post a word, or even just add a splash of colour! Community Living Access is located at 89 Culver Street, Simcoe.

  • Norfolk County staff, along with many community partners are pleased to announce the first annual Norfolk Community Day! 
  • On June 18th, 2022 Norfolk County is opening its doors to the public to celebrate all things Norfolk.  Every Ward across the County will have one or more community facilities open for free recreational and socio-cultural activities. This will include various “learn to play” activities, free swims including the opening of the outdoor Delhi Kinsmen Pool, summer ice free skates, face paintings, crafts, “Cake with the Councilor” and other activities for all.  Outdoor park activities are also planned such as free in person and virtual programs at Libraries, an outdoor movie, activity tents, a sand castle building competition, fire and paramedic trucks for viewing and tours at certain fire halls.  There will be free Norfolk County Museum programming, demonstrations and concerts throughout the day.

Thursday, May 19

  • Students’ Council meeting will happen today in room 109, Mrs. Yarmie’s room.  See you at noon.
  • Bear of the week is awarded to a deserving student who helps out around Valley and demonstrates kindness and Valley spirit.  Congratulations to Sawyer Parker who was awarded Bear of the Week two weeks ago.

  • Congratulations to all track & field athletes who competed at the AABHN meet last week.  anyone who still has pinnies, please return them to Mrs. Breedyk ASAP.  Good luck to those athletes who advanced to CWOSSA and will be competing Wednesday & Thursday this week.
