Thursday, September 22

  • Fair entries can be brought to school any day.  Baked goods and flowers are due Monday, October 3 at 9:00 am.
  • Cross country and high school challenge runners are reminded about the practice after school today.  New runners welcome and please remember to bring your permission forms.
  • Good practice this morning senior boys.  Practice continues tomorrow and Monday before the first game of the season on Tuesday. 
  • Junior boys your practice continues today after school 3 – 4:30 pm.
  • Cheerleading team is reminded of practice tomorrow morning at 7:15 am.  See you there!
  • This announcement is for all grade twelve students interested in attending college and university information sessions that will be taking place here at the Valley.  This is an opportunity for graduating grade 12 students planning on continuing their education at a college or university to meet with a representative from the institutions of choice and gather information and ask them questions about their facilities.

  • We had our first tug of war practice yesterday at lunch and the girls definitely showed up.  They beat the boys in each pull.  C’mon Valley boys, where are you?
  • We need 10 strong young men to fill this team and represent at fair.  Don’t worry, the girls will you how it’s done.
  • If you signed up for the Indigenous music & culture presentation in Toronto on September 29th, please find Mrs. Backus today for your permission form.  If you are still interested, all find her.

Wednesday, September 21

  • The Hidden Valley Café is open for business!  We have a variety of fresh baked homemade cookies, delicious deli sandwiches, an assortment of beverages and jumbo Freezies.  Come down to room 100 during the lunch hours to purchase a tasty treat.
  • Reminder to runners!  Please bring your Cross Country and Road Race permission forms in ASAP.  We are still looking for runners for both teams.  Practice Thursday after school.
  • Las call for fair entry forms.  Get them to Mrs. Yarmie today.
  • Junior boys volleyball practice Wednesday, September 21 and Thursday, September 22 from 3:00 – 4:30 pm.  Don’t be late!
  • Scorekeepers are still needed for volleyball and basketball home games.  A good opportunity for community service hours.  See Mr. Hamm if interested.
  • The Youth Action Committee is committed to giving youth a voice to positively enhance the live and recreational opportunities for all youth and residents of Norfolk County.  Wednesday, September 21 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.  Be the voice for youth in Norfolk County.
  • Junior and senior girls basketball Wednesday, September 21 from 3-4:30.  See you there!
  • Purple and white group meets Wednesday, September 21 after school 3 – 5:00 p.m.  See you in room 218.
  • There will be a Tug of War practice at lunch today for all students who have picked up a form.  We will meet in the parking lot by the green house.  Please come even if you haven’t gotten your form signed and returned to yet.  This is for all boys and girls.  See you there.

  • Library orientation sessions continue today with Mr. Dwonikiewicz’s class at 9:05, Mr. Thompsons class at 9:30 and Ms. Vandendriessche’s class at 9:55
  • The library is closed to all other students during period one.  You may sign out a tablet from the library if you need one.
  • Cheer practice Wednesday, September 21 3-5 pm and don’t forget to bring your uniform for the Langton Fair tomorrow morning!
  • Junior Boys’ Volleyball practice Tuesday, September 20, at 3:00 pm.  All players must be present.  Hurry down to the gym and don’t be late.

Monday, September 19

  • Langton Fair - Tuesday, September 20
    • Contact Carol Overbaugh if you are interested
    • Noon until 3:45 pm – supervising elementary students on the inflatable rides (i.e., bouncy castle)
    • 4:00 – 5:30 – helping take down the artwork on the windows of the arena.
    • Your parents will need to excuse you from school (if they approve) by calling in or writing you a note.  You are responsible for transportation and any work you miss.
    • Take a blank Community Service Hours sheet with you for Mrs. Overbaugh to fill out.
  • Langton Skating club is looking for some helpers to help with their CanSkate group on Mondays starting October 17th from 5:00 – 5:30 and then from 5:30 – 6:20. They really need the help during the 5 pm session with the Learn to Skate kids.  Volunteers must be able to skate and be comfortable lifting kids.  If you are interested, email Roxanne Lambrecht at roxlamb72@hotmail.com
  • We need some strong girls to join out tug of war team.  Please consider joining us.  See Mrs. Stephen for more information.

  • Junior and senior girls’ basketball practice tonight from 3:00 – 4:00!
  • Thank you to all of you that came out to volleyball tryouts. After three days of tryouts the teams have been picked. You will find the Junior and Senior boy volleyball rosters posted outside the student success office, room 225. Note the practice times. As mentioned on Friday, Senior boys will practice Tuesday morning @ 7:20 AM and Junior boys will practice Tuesday afternoon @ 3:00 pm. Show your commitment to the team and arrive to practice early and prepared to play!
