Dear Grand Erie Students,

As the school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on how proud I am of each and every one of you. This year has been a journey like no other, and I commend you for battling through the challenges and changes to make the best of these unprecedented times in our school communities.

Every student, and the parents, guardians and staff who support them, should be incredibly proud of their efforts to get through all the ups and downs. We know it’s been difficult, but you’ve shown remarkable resilience and rose to the challenge in countless ways. You have even found successes and achievements because not even a global pandemic can stop the passion for learning and community service.

We can take a moment now to appreciate where we are. We got through it. We made the best of it. And now summer is here with the promise of rest and adventure.

As we take this much-needed break and look ahead to the 2021-22 school year, I know many of our students are looking forward to seeing their friends again in the fall. Many of our principals, teachers and staff are looking forward to seeing bright, eager young faces in the classrooms and in the halls of our schools again. Any other year, September would seem routine, but we know this year will be extra special because we’ll be together again.

For now, it’s time to recharge. On behalf of the entire team at Grand Erie, I would like to wish you a happy, safe, and healthy summer vacation, and we look forward to seeing all of you when we return in September.

Sincerely,

JoAnna Roberto
Director of Education
Grand Erie District School Board.
