Technical Studies

The technological education programs at H.S.S. provide students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enhance their ability to achieve success in secondary school, workplace, post secondary education or training, and life skills. The goal of technological education is to support high-quality learning while giving individual students the opportunity to choose programs that suit their skills and interests.

At H.S.S. there are two Specialist High Skills Major programs:

  • The Transportation High Skills Major is automotive service focused.
  • The Hospitality and Tourism High Skills Major is culinary arts focused, where students are involved in food preparation, catering, and a school based Bistro program.

The Specialist High Skills Major programs at H.S.S. are supported by additional areas of technology including construction, custom woodworking, hair styling and aesthetics, and communications courses. These programs focus on developing student's ability to work creatively and competently with technologies that are central to their lives.
