The overall and specific expectations in the Full-Time Early Learning–Kindergarten program begin to develop foundational scientific and technological concepts. They can learn about the physical properties of materials at the sand and water centers and about living things and ways of caring for them at the discovery centre.

 

Examples of Class Centers:

 

 ramps at the block centres

 physical properties of materials at the sand and water centres

 

sorting living and non-living things

exploring with magnets and magnetic materials

Identify important relationships in their

lives (family members, friends,

pets, teachers) and name some responsibilities that are part of these relationships.

Describe significant people and places in

their lives ( parents, sports figures,

bedroom, park, playground, community).

– use illustrations, key words, and simple

sentences (e.g., chart, picture book, cartoon)

to sort, classify, and record information

about relationships and  rules.

– identify community celebrations that

reflect their own heritage and/or their

Canadian identity (e.g., Remembrance

Physical Activity

– participate vigorously in all aspects of the program   (e.g., physical activity centers, dancing to music, tag games);

 

-working co-operatively with others

(e.g., sharing equipment, helping others);

 

– demonstrate respect for others in group situations (e.g., being courteous, speaking kindly).

 

recognize that there are some medicines

(cough syrup, nose drops) and other

substances (vitamins) that help the

body when used properly used.

– identify medicines and household products

that are harmful to the body;

On March 6th Mrs. Wills class will present projects they completed comparing Canada to many countries around the world.  

They will also be showing some of the lessons they completed on the smart board!

 

You are encouraged to come join in the fun on Family Literacy Night.

 

From April 13 to sometime in June Mrs. Wills  Grade ‘s 1and 2 are quilting flags from countries around the world.
