Ensure you are using the correct columns:

When completing R1 report cards you need to ensure you are using the correct columns in PowerTeacher Pro. The easiest way to ensure you are using the correct columns is to use the filter tool so only the columns required for the R1 reporting period are visible.

  • Kindergarten Communication of Learning: enter FF. in the filter box in PowerTeacher Pro.

Note: If you do not apply this filter the first two columns should be skipped. They are intended for Initial Observations and are not used in reporting periods R1, and R2. When the filter is applied, only the columns intended for the R1 reporting period will be visible.

  • Elementary Grades 1 through 8 report card: enter RPT. in the filter box in PowerTeacher Pro.

Note 1: If you do not apply this filter the first group of columns with PR in the column headers should be skipped. They are intended for Progress Reports and are not used in reporting periods R1 and R2. When the filter is applied, only the columns intended for the R1 reporting period will be visible.

Note 2: When entering subject grades you need to use the mark column and not the R1 column.

Entering Comments:

All comment boxes for Elementary Reports have character limits based on the following chart:

NOTE: In PowerTeacher Pro the character limit for Grades 7 & 8 History was mistakenly set to 800.
Grades 7 & 8 Teachers SHOULD NOT exceed 400 characters in the comment box to ensure enough space is available for Geography comments

When entering comments teachers should refrain from using paragraphs and bullet lists if possible. This adds blank spaces or white spaces on the last line of each paragraph and will affect the font size of comments when the maximum characters are used.

Smart Text fields no longer take up any more space than they need to. In the past the <first name> would reduce the character count by 50 characters even when a student's first name is typically much shorter than 50 characters. Smart Text fields will no longer do this.
