Supervision & Liability

International Co-op students are monitored to the same Ministry of Education standards that apply to local Co-op students. Supervision includes:

  • The Ecuadorian Coordinator of the program visiting and monitoring each student.
  • Supervision by a staff member of the Grand Erie District School Board for the entire 4 weeks

It is responsibility of Fundacion Reto Internacional to interview and to select appropriate host families and choose the appropriate Community Service project with the agreement of the ICE co-ordinator. Many host families and placements include those who have successfully participated in former years.

Liability to the Board is similar to that with local Co-op students and is covered by the Board’s and OSBIE’s insurance coverages. The Ontario Ministry of Education also covers International Co-op students at their community service project, the same as with local Co-op students, under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
